Its official name is “i Ano Milea”. The seat of the municipality is Katerini and belongs to the geographical region of Macedonia.

During the former administrative division of Greece (“Kapodistrias” project) and until 2010, Ano Milia belonged to Milias (Kato Mileas) Local District, the former municipality of PETRAS the prefecture of PIERIAS.
