Its official name is “to Eleftherochorion”. The seat of the municipality is Kilkis and belongs to the geographical region of Macedonia.

During the former administrative division of Greece (“Kapodistrias” project) and until 2010, Eleftherochori belonged to Chersou Local District, the former municipality of CHERSOU the prefecture of KILKIS.
