Its official name is “o Kranionas”. The seat of the municipality is Kastoria and belongs to the geographical region of Macedonia.

During the former administrative division of Greece (“Kapodistrias” project) and until 2010, Kranionas belonged to Kranionos Local District, the former municipality of KORESTION the prefecture of KASTORIAS.
