Margarites (Greek: οι Μαργαρίτες) (Margariton Local Community - GEROPOTAMOU Municipal Section), belongs to MYLOPOTAMOU Municipality, RETHYMNOU Regional Unity located in Crete region, according to the administrative division of Greece as altered by “Kallikratis” project.

Its official name is “ai Margaritai”. The seat of the municipality is Perama and belongs to the geographical region of Crete.

During the former administrative division of Greece (“Kapodistrias” project) and until 2010, Margarites belonged to Margariton Local District, the former municipality of GEROPOTAMOU the prefecture of RETHYMNIS.
