Rio (Greek: το Ρίο) (Riou (Agiou Georgiou Riou) Municipal Community - RIOU Municipal Section), belongs to PATREON Municipality, ACHAÏAS Regional Unity located in Western Greece region, according to the administrative division of Greece as altered by “Kallikratis” project.

Its official name is “to Rion”. The seat of the municipality is Patra and belongs to the geographical region of Peloponnesus.

During the former administrative division of Greece (“Kapodistrias” project) and until 2010, Rio belonged to Riou (Agiou Georgiou Riou) Local District, the former municipality of RIOU the prefecture of ACHAÏAS.
